Working with Sony Pictures Entertainment, DataServ found that thousands of transactions with small dollar line-item amounts were overwhelming the AR department. Video-rental chain stores were ordering small quantities of videos for each of thousands of locations across the country and making a single payment to Sony each month. This made it difficult for Sony to collect late or denied payments held up due to disputes, resulting in increased Days Sales Outstanding (DSO). By capturing all of the documents associated with the AR cycle and providing this information to Sony's collections staff in a timely fashion, DataServ significantly shortened Sony's DSO and eliminated lost documents.
